Halloween is an annual excuse to revel in all things terrifying. And for some reason, a lot of us seem to enjoy it.

As it turns out, we love the adrenaline rush of being scared but only when we’re not in real danger. When we realize the world of a horror movie lies behind a screen and the chainsaw-wielding psychopath is just an actor, we can rest easy and enjoy the show. We can experience the high of a good fright while feeling safe knowing that the fear isn’t real.

However, 2020 has been a particularly eerie year, with unsettling news a daily reality. That’s why we should be leaning into the faux frights of Halloween, dabbling in the less fearful hypotheticals, and taking a brief respite from a spookier-than-usual reality.

Wrike has put together an online Halloween game to play when you need a distraction or escape. Choose your character, navigate the maze, find the treasure, and choose your favorite pieces to create the ultimate Halloween costume. You may not have the opportunity to dress up this year, so we suggest doing it digitally.

Escaping the 2020 horror show

This year, trick-or-treating or a costume party might not be in the cards, but that doesn’t mean we can’t embrace Halloween in other ways.

At home, distract yourself with a horror movie or gothic novel binge (go as dark or comedic as you’d like). Bob for apples. Carve a pumpkin. Bake some spooky-themed treats — whatever gives you a thrill during this time of year. If you’re working from home and need a break, decorate your home office or play our Halloween game to choose your costume for the party you can’t attend in real life.

Whatever you do to get into the spooky spirit, enjoy it and revel in the escape!

What we’ve learned from 2020

If this year has taught us anything, it’s the importance of being able to come together and work through life’s jump scares. It’s about overcoming the fear of unpredictable change and adapting how we live and work to the “New Normal.”

As more of us embrace remote working, our digital workspaces have become more important than our physical ones. Wrike is a collaborative work management platform that enables teams to manage evolving environments and create a unified digital workplace.

Eliminate labyrinthine folder structures and the endless web of scattered tasks. Exorcise outdated workflows and processes with a work management solution that adapts to any team’s needs. In doing so, you can vanquish the demonic rage that often results from a chaotic workspace.

Get into the spooky spirit and try our online Halloween game!
