AI’s trajectory into our lives has been lightning quick, making it easier to polish a resume or find a recipe that will use up what you have in the fridge. AI has also made it possible to summarize large amounts of data or conquer writer’s block. In fact, the applications for AI, both generative and otherwise, are seemingly endless.

At Wrike, we started incorporating AI into our work management software before it was the hottest tech trend, from our workflow automation to our in-task AI content creation, summarization, and translation tool.

The emphasis Wrike has put on AI reflects my overarching views of how AI will shape the world of marketing, which I was excited to share with Callan Consulting in its 2024 thought leadership report on the state of AI in technology marketing, released this week.

Here’s how I summed up the state of marketing AI:

AI marks a fundamental shift in how marketing operates — transforming engagement, decision making, and customer segmentation. AI isn’t just another tool, it’s a must-have that will give those marketers who use it a significant competitive edge, while those who don’t embrace it will be at a disadvantage in an increasingly data-driven world.

Having spent years in marketing leadership roles (here’s a bit more about my background), I’ve seen trends come and go, but the use of AI in marketing represents a strategic industry change that organizations will ignore at their peril.

When Callan Consulting approached me to contribute to this important report, I knew this was the perfect time to reflect on the ways we’re incorporating AI into our own platform, and how the Wrike marketing team is using a variety of AI tools to improve their productivity, project management, and efficiency

Please dive into this informative report and then join us for what promises to be a thoughtful discussion next week.
